I know that sounds counterintuitive.
But in my experience, people who have "I'm motivated" tattooed across their forehead, usually don't do a whole lot.
I'll give you a quick
example.
Ā
True story, actually.
Ā My mentor once recruited a guy named Mark into his home business opportunity.
He was pretty upbeat and had a positive vibe.
Could
definitely use the extra cash.
And considering he had too much month left at the end of the money... there was plenty of motivation for this guy to get after it.
In fact when they first met, he outright said these words...
"Vince, I need this and I'm very motivated to do it. You just tell me what to do and I'm all over it."
Whoa... after struggling to find anyone to sign up, that was music to my mentor's ears.
Anyhoo...
Mark signs up and there was a big local event coming up the following weekend. A perfect springboard for a new team mate.
But, that weekend was a problem for Mark to attend.
Turns out, Mark is an avid
hunter. And this was in November, a big hunting month where my mentor lived at that time.
Now let us paint a quick picture of Mark's situation...
Late 40s. No retirement savings. And buried in debt, which is already after filing for bankruptcy once.
Sadly, that's a very typical situation we have seen more times than we can remember throughout our
entrepreneurship.
So with that in mind, and knowing that Mark is "motivated" to take part in this business project, my mentor was absolutely shocked when he said...
"Vince, I can't go this meeting. I'll have to make it to the next one. You have to take time to smell the roses."
Ā He kid you not, these were the exact words of a guy on a brink of a second
bankruptcy.
And as you can probably guess, the next big meeting didn't happen either.
My mentor kept in touch with him for a long time after that, until a few years ago.
Last he spoke with Mark, he was in his late 50s.
Still hustling trying make a buck.
Still pretty upbeat that
some day he'll retire sooner.
And still having too much month at the end of the money.
But hey...
You gotta take time to smell the roses.
It's been almost two decades since he first met this guy.
And let us tell you...
Most people
you'll meet would rather "smell the roses", than take the time to plant a friggin' garden. So they can live in paradise for the rest of their life.
Whatever your definition of paradise is.
My only regret is that I spent way too much of my precious time, effort, and energy trying to get them to see it.
Time I'll never get back.
Which is why today I have just empathy left for people who 'don't get it.'Ā
And I believe you should make NO EFFORT to pursue them.
Remember.
Attract, not pursue. That's the golden
rule.
Instead...
Get the right people to pursue you.
And let the rest of them keep smelling the roses.
If that sounds like a better plan to
you...

P.S. This story is evident to show you that don't try to sell your business opportunities (or products) to everybody. Whatever you have
been taught by traditional home business leaders, which are still being taught today : "Talk to everyone and anyone"; is a scam. Learn modern digital strategies and business skills to grow your home businesses instead. In a nutshell, these skills are evergreen, building your personal branding ( IP - Intellectual Property ) and empowering you to market anything you decided.
